ABOUT US

Welcome, welcome, visitors! “Chance is the crucial refuge of the Will”; wrote the great Japanese writer, Yukio Mishima. Thus, you chanced upon our site is a welcome direction for your Will.

Hi, I am Dibakar Karmakar, an educated specialized silversmith artisan with a committed team of dedicated, innovative artisans from a rather remote and obscure district of West Bengal, India, namely Medinipur.
Medinipur has to its pride the most self-respecting tradition of more than four hundred years contributing to the most historic and resolute struggle for freedom. It is the birthplace of the late Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar who alongwith others was one of founding fathers of Bengal Renaissance, which brought into India the golden rays of New Learning of Europe. This is the unforgettable past.

In modern world, Medinipur today could boast itself again to be the birth place of the USA-based Laser scientist , the revered Mani Bhowmick, fathomlessly famous and fabulously rich for the invention of the laser based LASIK method of corrective surgery for eyes with impaired visions.

And this all gives Medinipur its very special place in Indian geography, and it stays as unforgettable even today as it had been in the past.

With all humility, your attention was drawn to these two remarkable features of history, both past and present. The point I wish to put across is simple: Medinipore has a unique and rich tradition, very much its own; OF innovation; FOR innovation & BY innovation ! One such area of innovation that still sustains the repository of the exquisite ethnic endeavors of the entire Indian map of manufacturing of silver and gold ornaments is the very specialized skill of artisans of Medinipore.
This is an authentic statement that has survived for generations.

Our skills are thus the fruits of untiring efforts spanning well over three generations which my grandfather handed down to my father who passed it on to me. Additionally, as a Science graduate from the University of Calcutta I enjoyed honing my skills further.
